Context
Saskatchewan Pulse Growers wanted six seed varieties brought to life as animated characters for social, YouTube and trade shows. Done traditionally, that meant illustrators and animators, longer timelines and a bigger budget.
My role
The campaign’s art director created the character concepts. I led production from there: scenes, animation and finishing.
Process
- Scenes. Photoshop, Adobe Firefly and Nano Banana. I built every scene so each character stayed the same from video to video, the hardest problem in AI production.
- Animation. Higgsfield, choosing between Kling, Veo and Seedance for each shot.
- Finishing. After Effects, to clean up artifacts and add typography.
Outcome
30 videos in about 70 hours: roughly ten hours to create each variety, then about two more to adapt it to five formats (16:9, 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 4:3).
Beyond the project
When generative AI emerged, I brought it into WJ: I presented it to the agency, wrote an internal Midjourney guide and ran ongoing sessions to train the creative team as the tools evolved.
